It's been more than 90 years since the World War memorial went up outside the Missoula County Courthouse.

I was driving downtown this morning and saw a plastic tarp draped over the statue.  I wasn't sure what was going on so I had to investigate.

It turns out that after almost a century - it's time for a deep cleaning.

Scott Loken and his son, of Loken Historic Preservation have placed the plastic tent over the monument as it undergoes the makeover.

The Over the Top to Victory sculpture was installed and dedicated back in 1927.

Last year the World War I Centennial Commission named the statue one of its 100 Cities/100 Memorials.

The hope is to have cleaning done and the statue uncovered before Veteran's Day on November 11th.
