"Pillow Talk," Zayn Malik's debut single, will drop Friday (January 29), but the former One Direction member's first TV appearance since leaving the group won't come as soon as we thought.

According to Digital SpyMalik has canceled a visit to The Graham Norton Show, scheduled to film Thursday night (January 28)  and air the day after — all so he can keep his nose to the grindstone.

"Unfortunately there was a scheduling conflict as Zayn is currently in the studio completing his album," a spokesman told the site.

"Zayn has confirmed that he would love to appear on the show at a later date," a representative added to Entertainment Weekly.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Will Smith and Ryan Reynolds will still appear as scheduled on the BBC One show.

The singer told The Times earlier this week that "Pillow Talk" will leave nothing to the imagination, and might shock fans with its bluntness.

"Everybody has sex, and it’s something people want to hear about," he said. "It’s part of everybody’s life, a very big part of life! And you don’t want to sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about."

Still, he told FADER that his first solo album won't have a singular sound, and that listeners should expect variety.

"I don’t really know what my style is yet," he noted. "I’m kind of just showing what my influences are."

Think Zayn's got a valid excuse to skip out on the show, or is there more to the story? Share your thoughts in the comments.
