‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Images Unveil Sentinels, First Look at Stryker, Toad and More!
Last week, 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' promised fans of the superhero franchise an epic new look at director Bryan Singer's latest installment through Empire magazine. The day has finally arrived as the publication releases 25 magazine covers bedecked with new images from the massive mutant team-up.
Much like the grand scale of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' our latest look at the film is packed with mutants, one sinister villain and, of course, Sentinels! 'X-Men' fans have been pining for a live-action rendering of the most iconic evil robots in this comic book universe since the creations were first teased in a brief scene from 'X-Men: The Last Stand.' Well, now you can see them fully realized, along with first looks at some of the new cast members.
'X-Men: Days of Future Past' takes its name from the classic comic book arch by Chris Claremont, which sees the remaining X-Men fighting for their lives in an apocalyptic future where Sentinel robots, created by Bolivar Trask (played in the film by Peter Dinklage), have laid waste to mutant- and humankind. To stop this future from coming to pass, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent back in time to warn '70s Professor X about the event that sets it all into motion.
The cast from the original X-Men movies (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page) join forces with the 'X-Men: First Class' crew (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult) to tell this epic tale. Also joining the cast are new iterations of familiar characters -- Evan Jonigkeit joins 'Days of Future Past' as Toad (played in the very first 'X-Men' film by Ray Park) and Josh Helman plays William Stryker way before the days of Project X in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.' You can check out all the latest images from 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' below as they are released, including the Sentinel Mark 1 design of 1973.
'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will hit theaters May 23.
