We already know that Avengers: Infinity War will feature the biggest roster of MCU characters yet — even bigger than Captain America: Civil War, no doubt, as Marvel’s next Avengers chapter is set to deliver an epic conclusion to Phase 3 (and finally give Thanos a chance to stretch his space-legs). Now that the studio has scaled the two-parter back to one film, it’s unclear if that lineup will still be as massive as originally planned, but it looks like we know of at least a couple more characters who will return.

Potential SPOILERS to follow…

/Film caught this interesting side note in a THR article about Sebastian Stan’s casting in the upcoming thriller We Have Always Lived in the Castle:

Stan is coming off of Captain America: Civil War, one of the year’s more acclaimed movies that has grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide. The actor, who recently wrapped the indie I’m Not Here with Maika Monroe and J.K. Simmons, will shoot Avengers: Infinity War early next year.

Last we saw of Stan in the MCU, Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier surrendered himself to a scientific facility in Black Panther’s home of Wakanda, where he was cryogenically frozen. We assumed the end of Civil War wouldn’t be the last we saw of ol’ Bucky — especially since Stan has a nine-film contract with Marvel — but we didn’t know exactly when he’d show up again. Black Panther is a possibility, but given the scope of Infinity War, his return for that film seems pretty likely, too.

/Film also points out LRM’s recent interview with Stellan Skarsgard, who reveals that he’s also probably coming back for Infinity War. Skarsgard previously revealed that he wouldn’t be returning for Thor: Ragnarok, which is largely set in the outer realms and will spend very little time on Earth.

In addition to the usual heroes, Avengers: Infinity War will also reportedly feature Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as Josh Brolin’s Thanos and MCU newcomer Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. The film is scheduled to arrive on May 4, 2018.
