In my book, BrewFest is a holiday, and gives Santa a run for his money when it comes to which celebration makes me happier. The Missoula Downtown Association and Kettlehouse Brewing Co. are hosting their third annual Winter BrewFest on Friday, February 15, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Caras Park. A whopping 30 of the 36 beers to be served are brewed in Montana, with 21 of those 30 beers coming from right here in Missoula!

For the first time, the event is to be held outdoors at Caras Park. There will be bonfires and giant heaters inside the pavilion to help guests stay cozy – not like you won’t be all warm and fuzzy from the brew. This years’ Brewfest coincides with the opening of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, which will be screening its opening film at the nearby Wilma, at 6 p.m. If you take advantage of both events, you will receive discounts. There will be a $3 discount off your BrewFest admission with a screenings pass to the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, and $1 off a film festival screening when you purchase a BrewFest glass.

All BrewFest attendees will be required to show identification at the entrance, which will be located on the westside of the Caras Park pavilion near the carousel. Parking is free downtown on evenings and weekends. Attendees are encouraged to use alternative forms of transportation if they will be consuming alcohol. Mountain Line busses run until 8 p.m., or you can call UCallus at 880-1673 for a safe ride home. UCallus operates on a donation basis, so please remember to throw them a few bucks to keep this awesome service going strong.

Admission to Winter BrewFest is $10 per person and includes a 7-ounce commemorative glass and two beer tokens. Any additional tokens will be sold for $1 each. Entertainment will be provided by Three Eared Dog from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and The Kevin Van Dort Band from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Food will be available from El Cazador and MacKenzie River Pizza. Bottoms Up!
