Have you heard of the Yellow Dog Project? It’s “…a global movement for owners of dogs that need space. It hopes to educate the public and dog owners to identify dogs needing space…” If you happen to see a dog that has a yellow ribbon, you know to give that dog some extra space. Seeing a dog with a yellow ribbon tied around its collar doesn’t mean it’s a vicious dog. Maybe the dog isn’t good with kids, or the dog just had surgery and is recovering. The Yellow Dog Project is a non-profit, world-wide initiative.

They simply want to create open dialogue between strangers and dog-owners. “…educate appropriate ways to approach or make contact with a dog with permission of a dog owner only, whether or not a dog is a “yellow dog”.”
