Violent Offender Caught, Suspected of Burglarizing Missoula Business

Missoula Police were called out to a local business on Sunday morning after someone saw someone rummaging around inside, even though the business was closed. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

"Just after 11:00 a.m. officers responded to what was reported as burglary in progress in the 2300 block of Kemp Street. When officers arrived they could see that a forced entry had been made and they could hear noises coming from inside the building."

Police approached the building called for the suspect to come out and identify himself,which he did.

"A male came out the doorway and was identified as 35-year-old Christopher Langer," Welsh said. "Mr. Langer was placed under arrest when the officers found evidence inside that he was  possibly looking to take items from the building. He also had an extraditable warrant and he was on probation."

Though no violence was involved this time, Langer is required to register as a violent offender in Montana and it appears he has difficulty not hitting women. He has PFMA convictions in Missoula and in Gallatin County. The Belgrade News reports that in 2015, he struck his then-girlfriend so hard across the face that she fell to the sidewalk unconscious, Langer then fled on foot leaving her there for police to find.
