A man who lives on Highway 10 between Piltzville and Turah has reported a burglary in which valuable items were stolen.

Missoula County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said the man noticed several items in his home were out of place, and called authorities after he discovered items were missing.

"The man reported that he had left his home Wednesday morning and when he returned later that afternoon, he discovered that silver had been removed from several containers in his bedroom," Pavalone said. "A whole group of coins had been taken, along with a jar full of change he had been saving. In addition, a .22 caliber pistol had been taken from the residence."

Pavalone said sheriff's detectives interviewed the man's neighbors, but there are so far no leads in finding the missing items.

"Detectives are checking with all the area pawn shops to see if any of the stolen items turn up," Pavalone said. "There have been numerous break-ins in the area, so residents are being urged to lock their homes, garages and cars to discourage theft."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Missoula County Sheriff's Department at 258-4810, or Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
