Top 5 Missoula Indoor Fun Spots and Activities for Kids During the Winter
If you are raising a kid in Missoula, then you know as well as I do that keeping them active during the winter time can be a challenge. It gets cold in Montana!
When they've just about had enough with the snowy weather and can no longer stand sledding or building igloos...here are some fantastic places INDOORS that can help wear the wee ones out before nap time.
Ditch the coat and gloves and bring the kiddos to the largest indoor gymnasium in Missoula. Mismo offers many structured classes and training camps, but for a 3 year-old that might be a bit overwhelming. Instead, inquire about their FREE TIME hours so they can let loose, jump, twirl, balance, swing and of course, dive into their massive foam pit!
While you might need to bundle them up AFTER they take a dive in the year-round heated pool, your kids will have a splashing good time at Currents. You can keep the young ones on the shallow end of the pool where there is still plenty of fun to be had with the mini-water slide and massive water fountain... or, for the adventurous older kids you can slap a life vest on them and help them navigate through the windy paths around the deep end.
With numerous rooms jam-packed with a huge variety of hands-on activities, this downtown gem is brimming with so much to do that, I hate to say it, your kid may never want to leave.
From a play-time water table, to a mini grocery market complete with milk, eggs, and even a tiny cash register, to a theatre stage that even has costumes and a TV camera, these activities only begin to scratch the surface of the crazy amount of fun your kid can have. The Children's Museum Missoula is a hit with kids of all ages.
While this local soccer arena may pose as an operation that offers a wide-open AstroTurf for kids to practice their soccer kicks, there is one lesser known new addition that delights... the largest inflatable bouncy castle park in the city! Yup, three, count 'em THREE enormous bouncing play toys, including one for the toddlers, and two others for medium and more adventurous rascals.
Another warm indoor location with plenty of things to do with kids in mind. Of course, you have the basketball courts, but the Missoula YMCA also managed to squeeze in a rock climbing wall! While that's probably better suited for the older children, there are still numerous activities for a kid to go crazy with, including a game room and arts and crafts classroom.
