The Montana Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving three semi-trucks early Tuesday morning on I-90.

Trooper Luke Burson said the call came in just after 2:30 a.m. and involved three semi-trucks in a parking area just west of Alberton.

"Basically, icy road conditions led to a severe three vehicle crash," Burson said. "Luckily, there were no injuries, but there was a lot of property damage. Three semis collided when one semi was entering a parking and rest area at mile marker 73. It struck the rear of another semi, which sent that into yet another semi, and I'm out here cleaning up"

Burson said the road conditions at the time were freezing rain falling on black ice, and the entire I-90 area was a sheet of ice at the time.

I-90 from St. Regis to the Idaho state line is closed at this time, as personnel from the Montana Department of Transportation are looking at ways to mitigate the danger of avalanches in the area.
