Distinguished speakers will be addressing the theme of language during UM'sTedX Montana event this Friday at the George and Jane Dennison Theater.

TedX Montana Director at the University of Montana Jace Laakso said the topic of language is universal to all people, and so organizers of the TedX event have invited local, regional and national speakers to the event from 4 to 9 p.m.

"For instance, Darko Butorak, conductor of the Missoula Symphony Orchestra will be adressing the language of conducting," Laakso said. "I've got April Charlo from Arlee who runs the Salish Language Institute. I've also got a woman coming from North Carolina, Susan Joy Hassol, who is a climate communicator. It's about language of all forms, as much as we could encompass."

Also speaking at the event will be journalist Clay Scott and Missoula Mayor John Engen.
