Take a Polar Plunge at the 15th Annual Super Grizzly Dip on Saturday

On Saturday, the 15th annual Super Grizzly Dip will take place on the oval of the University of Montana campus!

Jason Johnson with the Missoula County Sherriff's Office said this polar plunge is a fun way to help raise money for local Special Olympics athletes.

"This Saturday, February 15, will be our 15th annual Super Grizzly Dip and we're really excited about it," Johnson said. "It will be taking place at the oval on the University of Montana campus. We're right on par for having about 100 plungers. Last year, we raised about $34,000 for local Special Olympics athletes and we're just excited that this is our 15th year."

Johnson said the event is open to anyone that wishes to take the plunge.

"Folks sign up and register to participate, and they raise a few bucks for Special Olympics, and then when it's their turn, they jump into icy cold waters," Johnson said. "It's all to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics."

Too chicken to plunge? No problem, Johnson said. People can register as a "chicken" and raise pledges and receive incentives just like a regular plunger.

Registration check-in starts at 10:30 a.m. and the plunge kicks off at noon.
