It’s official – er, officially possible. Seinfeld has long been seen as the holy grail of potential TV revivals, and its star and co-creator finally concedes that Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer may join the ranks of iconic TV shows brought back for an encore.
The fight is just beginning for one of Hollywood’s most revered comediennes. Veep and Seinfeld favorite Julia Louis-Dreyfus took the courageous step of announcing her own breast cancer diagnosis over Twitter, pivoting the discussion to healthcare as HBO answers questions about Veep’s final season.
Last week, Republican candidate Donald Trump was called to account for a tape that had leaked to the Washington Post. In it, Trump is heard bragging, in extremely lewd terms, about his treatment of women. Trump dismissed this conversation, which was recorded on an open microphone moments before an interview for Access Hollywood which he was fully aware was about to occur, as “locker room talk.”
Seinfeld seems about the least likely sitcom to consider revival, to a point the idea formed the spine for an entire Curb Your Enthusiasm season. That said, Jerry Seinfeld has apparently at least been approached for a live episode return, and may himself return for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9.
Seinfeld is truly the gift that keeps on giving, whether bestowing all its episodes on modarn platforms like Hulu, putting Jerry and Elaine on the road together, or unveiling surprise stories of the past. Latest from the treasure trove is Jason Alexander’s explanation of Heidi Swedberg’s Susan Ross, whom the cast apparently hated working with, and conspired together to kill off.
As much as we like to imagen Seinfeld today, Hulu may soon corner the market on Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer’s exploits. The streaming service has announced an exclusive streaming deal for everyone’s favorite show about nothing, moving all 180 Seinfeld episodes onto Hulu for years to come.
