Back in October, a Worden, Montana football player by the name of Koni Dole broke his right leg. Unfortunatly doctors had no choice but to AMPUTATE a portion of his leg due to a terrible infection. That didn't seem to stop him, and made a personal goal to play for MSU one day...even though doctors were doubtful.

Just because the weather gets a little colder soon, doesn’t mean that Missoula and Western Montana close the blinds and hibernate for the winter. In fact, the opposite is true. There is just as much to enjoy about our fair city when the snow flies, as when the sun shines 20 hours a day...

As I have confessed to you before, I am not a big football fan. There are many aspects of the game that I don’t understand, that don’t make sense to me, or that just plain bore me. I don’t understand why they stop the clock after some plays, but not after others. How does a game that has four 15 minute quarters last for three hours on average?

There are a lot of NFL fans that don't have a lot to smile about these days. The playoffs have been surprisingly rough on many teams and their fans, and that doesn't even take into consideration all of the teams that didn't even make it into the postseason. Saturday, Nov. 1 brought The University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State University Bobcats together for the 112th meeting on the gridiron. The Cats won this year's "Brawl of the Wild," which was held in Missoula, 16-7. Check out photos of both teams and their fans at the game:  

University of Montana Grizzly linebacker Brock Coyle was selected by the Big Sky Conference Monday as the ROOT Sports co-defensive player of the week for his performance against Northern Colorado on Saturday.

As all fans know, the Montana Grizzlies are playing the Eastern Washington Eagles at Eastern Washington on Sept. 29. For those that can't make the drive to Cheney, Zoo FM and its sister stations have teamed up with Root Sports and Five Star Satellite to show the game live on 10 big screen TVs under the tent at our Town Pump Outdoor Griz Viewing Party.

Or, rather, the NFL has decided to use high school referees as replacements while it negotiates with the actual referees' union, which has led to the occasional minor controversy. There's a lot of angry Green Bay Packers fans right now, and rightfully so -- It's pretty bad when even Seahawk fans are agreeing with you.

I'm a huge Seahawks fan - like so huge that I was jumping up and down in the middle of Buffalo Wild Wings as it appeared that the Seahawks had beat the Green Bay Packers in tonight's (Sept. 24) Monday Night Football game.  However, after seeing the replay, it became rapidly clear to me, and the other Seahawks fans in the bar, that we had nothing to cheer about.

'Streaks were meant to be broken'. 'It had to happen sometime'. Phrases like these were overheard after the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks came into Washington Grizzly stadium in Missoula and do what few teams had done...beat Montana...and during Homecoming.

The Sentinel High School vs. Flathead High School JV football game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 21, in Missoula has been cancelled. It has been rescheduled to 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24, in Kalispell at Flathead High School.
