E3 News – New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) Trailer

E3 news keeps breaking with word out of the Nintendo camp and a new Super Mario Bros. 2 trailer. Nintendo just announced their latest 2D Mario title, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and Mario is looking richer than a lot of us.

The E3 trailer below shows off how the Italian plumber will literally be making coin in this newest iteration of the classic franchise.

In addition to a brand new power-up where Mario’s head becomes a block that spills out coins, you’ve got shells, fireballs, pipes, buttons producing coins everywhere. Nintendo’s brief presentation of NSMB2 hinted at the importance of gold coins and all “gold” in general.

At this rate, it won’t be long before he can take a swim in coins a la Scrooge McDuck.

The game will be coming to the 3DS on August 19th.
