Inches of snow fell in the mountains of Western Montana and some of that snowfall made it to the valley floor in the Bitterroot and Missoula. Storm systems have started to come into the area from the northwest, bringing more snow in the next day and then colder temperatures after that, with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the teens. The MOntana Department of Transportation is reporting fresh snow on roads throughout the state, with snow on I-90 from west to east.

Hunters are happy with the weather forecast, bringing better conditions in the high country for their possibility of success. Conditions are different from last year, though. At this date a year ago, there was over 20 inches of snow in parts of the Bitterroot Mountains. This year, as of November 5, there was a report of only 6 inches of snow, according the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks weekly update. With the recent storms, next week's report will show a major increase in that snow level.
