I don’t know if you’ve heard, but apparently there is a nationwide Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte shortage. I myself am not a fan of this popular Starbucks flavor. I love pumpkin pie and I love lattes, but for some reason when they are mixed together I hate them. However, I know there are quite a few people out there who live for fall, just to have their Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. So, to help those of you who may be going through withdrawls due to the shortage, here is a do-it-yourself recipe I found. I hope you like it.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Makes 2 servings

2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more to garnish
1 to 2 shots espresso, about 1/4 cup of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee
Whipped cream

On medium heat whisk milk, pumpkin and sugar in a sauce pan. Be sure to stir it until the mixture steams. Remove mixture from heat, and whisk in vanilla and spice until foamy. Pour the mixture into two large mugs, then add the espresso. Finish it off by topping it with whipped cream and sprinkle with pumpkin pie spice.
