Warwick Davis has been with the Star Wars franchise since Return of the Jedi, when he made his big screen debut as Wicket the Ewok. Since then, he’s had non-Ewok roles in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens and the upcoming anthology film Rogue One — in which he plays the new Space Monkey character that’s already becoming a bit of a fan favorite. It looks like Davis isn’t leaving the galaxy far, far away anytime soon, as the actor himself has confirmed that he’ll also appear in Episode VIII.

Via Jedi News, Davis spoke with Australian outlet news.com.au, where he was asked if he has a role in Episode VIII, to which he offered this very simple response:

I do, yes. That’s all I can say.

Davis obviously wasn’t able to comment further on his part, though it seems unlikely that he’ll be playing an Ewok. His supporting roles in The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens and Rogue One have all been small but fun, and it’ll be interesting to see who or what he’s playing in Rian Johnson’s forthcoming sequel, which arrives in 2017.

Although Davis couldn’t speak specifically about his role in Episode VIII, he offered his thoughts on The Force Awakens along with a brief comment about the sequel, which, like a few of his co-stars, he compared to The Empire Strikes Back:

There were some wonderful moments, some moving moments and it was full of all the action that we expect, so for me it ticked all the boxes, I loved it. And I think it sets up the trilogy very well. Obviously we’re moving into the territory of Episode VIII very soon as well, and much like Empire Strikes Back I’m sure it’s going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it’ll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in Episode IX.

Davis appears next in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which also stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed and hits theaters on December 16. Episode VIII arrives on December 15, 2017.
