Seeley Swan High School Students To Remain At Paws Up Resort For One More Week

Administrators at Seeley Swan High School have made the decision to remain at the Paw Up Resort in Greenough for one more week of classes, despite the change to an evacuation warning status.

MCPS Communications Director Hatton Littman said there were several reasons for the decision.

“We’ve been tracking how students have been doing with their classes at the Paw Up Resort, as well as tracking what’s happening with the fire,” Littman said. “With the change in the evacuation order, may would have expected students directly return to Seeley Swan High School. In reality, there are multiple factors we had to take into account, and the best thing for staff and students was to stay at the resort for one more week, September 11 through 14.”

Littman said the decision to stay was multi-faceted.

“From student transportation to the temporary site, transportation to where they might get to healthy air for after school sports activities as well as healthy air all day long,” she said. “And then of course, the potential, not knowing what might happen with the evacuation order changing, and the school being put back on mandatory evacuation orders.”

Littman said the Seeley Lake Elementary School is not part of the Missoula County Public School District, and their administration has decided to open school on Monday, September 11 at the school building in Seeley Lake.
