The Ravalli County Office of Emergency Management has issued a flood advisory for minor flooding that may soon occur in areas with poor drainage in Ravalli County.

Sheriff Steve Holton said there are some areas in Ravalli County that are prone to flooding.

"Over the last couple of days we've had the potential of minor flooding in the Woodside cutoff road area," Holton said. "We're working with Corvallis Fire right now and the road shop has been a great help, and we do have a load of sand and sandbags available at the Corvallis Fire Hall for residents in that Woodside cutoff and Penny Lane area."

Holton said the National Weather Service has warned of the possibility of minor flooding in the area.

"There's the chance of minor flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage," he said. "It's supposed to warm up starting Thursday and through the weekend with some rain on top of it and that will exacerbate the problem. Erik Hoover, the Director of the Office of Emergency Management is working with the other fire stations right now. We're trying to get more places where folks can pick up sandbags and sand. Unfortunately, right now people are responsible for filling up and transporting their own sandbags, so we're trying to be prepared for it and get ahead of it."

Holton said the new app called 'Alert Sense', available from the existing Ravalli County Sheriff's Office's app, will make the process of communication much faster and more convenient.
