The 2012 Missoula Festival of Trees Celebration is underway! Four fun holiday events await Missoula during this annual tradition, so fun that even our radio stations decided to join the excitement.

Our fearless leader Shawna had asked all of the DJs and staff of our station to be at the Holiday Inn downtown last Wednesday for a little "team-building exercise," a term I never heard of before, and frankly was a little freaked out by. It sounded to me like one of those super long and boring seminars with power point presentations and that uncomfortable moment where we had to fall back with our arms folded in hopes that a co-worker would be trusting enough to catch up before we fell. Not quite.

Instead, we were greeted at the Holiday Inn by the locally famous Bill Caras, owner of Caras Nursery in Missoula, a name that I was familiar with, but had not met yet until that moment. This super nice, and clearly seasoned tree expert, asked us all to dive in on a Christmas tree and decorate together!  In fact, many area businesses shared the same space as their employees also pitched in on their own trees. Now this is MY kind of team-building, especially when we had enough interesting and one-of-a-kind decorations to make this Christmas tree uniquely ours...

Behold! A tree built with love by radio professionals!

The best part? This tree will be auctioned off to benefit Mountain Home Montana and Community Medical Center Foundation and help these organizations provide quality services and support for Missoula Moms and Babies.

The 2012 Missoula Festival of Trees is scheduled to take place November 29 through December 1 and will feature the Tour of Trees, Boogie Wonderland (formerly Jingle Bell Jam), Gala Dinner and Auction and the Teddy Bear Tea Party.
