A group of puppies and their mom were rescued from a foreclosed home in Ronan about a week ago. Now they're in Missoula at a foster home set up through the Humane society of Western Montana.

We're told the pups were left alone for week until a neighbor came along and told an animal shelter in Ronan. That shelter was full so that's how they ended up with the Director of the Humane Society of Western Montana, Lora O'Connor.

"To be able to take them and know we have the resources to take care of them and for great foster families so we can get them to the age where they'll be adopted," said O'Connor.

While no one is sure what breed the five week old pups are some are sprinkled with spots. Others are pudgy and playful. Some are a little bashful. The puppies names are Irish themed because they'll be ready to be adopted on St. Patrick's Day.

Limerick, Liam, Guinness, Lucky and Patty are just few names the shelter came up with.

"It's one of the best parts of our job just to see puppies and the mom is a great mom," said O'Connor.

O'Connor says as soon as they posted pictures of the puppies on Facebook, the phone calls started rolling in. She says they've been a hit across western in Bozeman, Butte and here in Missoula.

"Our community is so invested in pets so we just have a great foster network and veterinaries and great organizations not only in Missoula but in Western Montana.

Now it's a joint effort between the foster family taking care of the puppies and the shelter to get them ready for adoption. They'll get two rounds of vaccinations, get spade or neutered, then dewormed and finally they'll get a micro-chip implanted. That's to track them if they're lost or stolen.

Then they're off to a new home but until then these pups will nuzzle up, fumble around and steal dog lovers attention along with their hearts .

If you want the chance to take home one of those puppies you can fill out a short dog adoption survey on the Humane Society of Western Montana's website.
