Pamela Adlon’s acerbic nonchalance hasn’t been seen on FX since the days of Louie, and with Season 6 somewhere in the far-flung future, Adlon is making her own fun with Better Things. The first teaser for the star’s own FX dramedy has arrived, shamelessly co-opting a Game of Thrones favorite.

Vulture caught the first teaser for Better Things, which now looks to set a September 8 premiere, in the same neighborhood as Donald Glover’s Atlanta. In the teaser, a familiar bell elicits a very different Pavlovian response that Game of Thrones fans would recognize well.

Produced and co-written by Louis C.K. So reads the Better Things logline:

What’s it like to be a working woman raising three daughters on her own? Don’t ask. Ok. Since you asked. Things get gnarly. And bloody. And funny. Well to you, anyway. In Better Things, Adlon plays Sam, a working actor with no filter trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two, and also - just maybe - squeeze in some private time once in a while. Her life is funny to watch, but you wouldn’t want to live it (except sometimes).

Apart from starring, Adlon will serve as an executive producer alongside C.K. Included in the cast are Mikey Madison, Riley Watson, and Olivia Edward as the three daughters, while the first season will consist of 10 episodes.

We’ll see more of Adlon’s Better Things toward September, but what do we think of the first look?
