Missoula county attorney Kirsten Pabst says her office had more 20 felony cases this past week. Sadly, with seven cases in all, violent crimes were the most numerous.

"There were three strangulation cases," Pabst said. "One involved an additional charge of assault on a minor. The child victim was a 6-year-old girl. There were two intimidation cases, one involved threatening to kill a victim while stealing the victim's bike. Another one was an assault with a weapon threat of an employee at the City Lodge Hotel. There was a violation of an order of protection and a partner or family member assault."

Just as common though were property crimes.

"There were two theft of labor or services charges," Pabst said. "They are similar to a theft charge, but what was stolen here was electricity. The defendants allegedly plugged their camper into their neighbors power source. There were two theft charges. In one the defendant allegedly stole a care, drove it to Walmart and then fell asleep in the car. There was an embezzlement case that involved taking approximately 20,000 from a club in which the defendant was not only a member, but was the treasurer."

Drug cases are often prominent, but not this past week, there was only one drug case involving an accused methamphetamine trafficker.
