Today, Feb. 28, House Bill 155 was signed into law by Governor Steve Bullock. The bill updates laws concerning school buses.

Bill sponsor Representative David Moore of Missoula says he got the idea for the bill from a retired area teacher who had attempted to get someone to carry the bill for multiple sessions.

David Moore:

The bill clarifies the School bus driver's manual and updates it. It also increases the stopping distance for drivers behind a bus when the bus flashes red lights. from 15 to 30 feet.

Moore says he brought toy school buses for all of the senators at the senate hearing as a form of "tribute". He praised the bills passing adding that "protecting Montana’s children is one of our highest priorities.”
