According to our friends at NBC Montana, on May 22nd, a car was pulled over for driving erratically on a Montana highway. When State Troopers approached the sedan, they were met with thousands of bees.

The driver was transporting 5 hives, which is not illegal, and claimed that the bees were harmless. Troopers contacted our state beekeeper (yes, this is somebody's job) who confirmed that one does not need a permit to transport bees through the state, but also said it was certainly not the safest way to move the bees.

The driver was cited for careless driving.
