Montana Law Enforcement Academy Graduates 45 New Officers [AUDIO]

At a ceremony Friday morning, the Montana Law Enforcement Academy graduated 45 new officers who will serve 24 different agencies across the state.

Montana Attorney General's office spokesman John Barnes said the academy teaches men and women the basic principles of law enforcement, and then their individual agencies will provide more specific training.

"Each agency has their own program on how to train their officers and deputies," Barnes said. "We graduated a number of new Highway Patrol Troopers, and now that they completed their basic course, they will stay at the academy to finish their Highway Patrol advanced course."

Barnes said the academy itself offers a basic a 12-week course.

"After the 12 weeks are up, every agency has their own training schedule for various advanced training, but the basic core training is about 12 weeks."

The academy graduates from Missoula include Andrew Beaty with the Missoula County Sheriff's Office, along with Shaun Loya and Jenna Volinkaty, both with the Missoula Police Department. Matt Reynolds will be serving with the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office.
