I've been on a running kick lately. In fact, my goal this year is to finally run Bloomsday 2013. As a born and raised Spokane native I'm actually shocked and disappointed in myself for never taking part in this annual tradition. This year, no excuses. And to get myself thoroughly prepared for this challenge, I'm going to attempt to take in as many Missoula-area 5K's as I can between now and then.

Here is the next one. Perhaps you can join me?

The Catch'Em If You Can 5K is back under the direction of Dara and Scott Rouse. Race proceeds benefit Hellgate High School Cross-country. Ladies start first and gentlemen start 3 minutes later.

Start times: Women 9:30 a.m. & Men 9:33 a.m.

Location: Toole Park at the end of 4th St.  East (East of the Missoulian)

Course: Flat 5K loop on Riverfront trail starting at the Madison St footbridge, west to California St , around Osprey Stadium, and ending back at the Madison St footbridge. Click here for the course map.

Prizes: Prizes for top finishers and a random prize drawing after the race. Socks donated by The Runner's Edge for all participants. Refreshments provided, including Big Dipper ice cream!

Run Wild Missoula donates the proceeds of this race to Hellgate High School Cross Country. In past years this race was called the Scrumpy Jack Scramble and was under the direction of Em and Torey Kendrick. The 2-person by 2-mile relay race was organized in celebration of St. Valentine's Day. Thank you, Em and Torey, for organizing the race for many years.
