Missoula County Public School District One Superintendent Alex Apostle will be leaving town at the end of the year. After months of speculation and job interviews in other towns, Apostle has chosen to work in the Shelton, Washington public school system.

Below is the transcription of a phone message that went out to MCPS families this morning:

"Good morning, this is Alex Apostle, Superintendent of Missoula County Public Schools. This morning, Friday, March 20, 2015 I accepted the position of Superintendent of Shelton Public Schools in Shelton, Washington. I will continue to serve as the Superintendent of Missoula County Public Schools for the duration of the current school year. My wife, Susan and I, look forward to the opportunity to return home closer to our families in Washington. It has been my sincere pleasure to serve the staff and students of the Missoula County Public Schools and the community. I will leave with a sense of pride in our shared accomplishments. I know that the Missoula County Public Schools will continue to be forward thinking and high achieving in the state of Montana. Thank you."

A press conference about the resignation is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
