If you have performed on any stage in Missoula, odds are your voice or instrument was amplified by the legendary Jay Straw. Straw is the one man in our city that nearly every musician relies on for perfect acoustics and punchy bass. His sound can be heard for miles, from the hundreds of events at Caras Park, to the annual no-holds-barred Testicle Festival.

If a speaker blows, who's the person to fix it? Jay Straw. If a band needs tuning before a gig, who's the person to tune them? Jay Straw. If there is one person that needs hearing aids more than anyone in this state, who's the person that needs to get their ears checked? All of us, because at one point we've all been near Jay Straw's wall of perfectly tuned, un-blown speakers.

Tonight, the mythical music man who is instrumental (pun intended) in all facets of the Missoula entertainment scene is being honored by the the one and only Dead Hipster himself, Michael Gill as he is currently sitting behind his laptop cropping away on photoshop (and probably in tears from laughter) while simultaneously uploading meme upon meme for us all to appreciate and share.

It is a tribute that is far overdue, and downright hilarious all at once. The following photos are a salute to the man, the myth, the Benedictine Monk of Missoula Beats?!? Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Jay Straw and his glorious mug set to a variety of memes.
