A female University of Montana student reported to authorities that she had been raped over the weekend.

Vice President for Integrated Communications at the University of Montana, Peggy Kuhr, said the alleged assault occurred sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

"The University of Montana Police department did receive a report of a sexual assault," Kuhr said. "When our police department receives a report of a felony, we immediately refer that to the Missoula Police Department. This incident, I understand, did not happen on campus, but it did involve a student. At that point, our first effort is to make sure that whoever made the report receives all the care and all the health services she or he needs."

Missoula Police are investigating the assault that reportedly occurred on Keith Avenue, not far from the UM campus.
