At peak outage, 18,000 Missoulians were without power on Monday night, August 10, according to Northwestern Energy spokesman Butch Larcomb.

The outages were down to just about 2,600 on Tuesday morning, with over 60 power lines down. Most people were back online by 1:30 a.m. with more coming on line throughout the day. Areas of town, such as Grant Creek, Miller Creek, the Rattlesnake, and various other spots throughout the Missoula Valley were still without power 12 hours after the power went out at around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

According to Larcomb, the outages in Missoula were the highest he had ever seen, during his tenure over the past three years.
