A structure fire at 2715 Schilling Sunday morning resulted in an injury to a Missoula city fireman.

Assistant fire chief Jeff Brandt says the fire was reported at about 10 a.m. at the corner of Schilling and Benton. Three city engines a ladder truck, a Battalion chief, and a Missoula Rural fire truck all responded to the blaze at a large automotive shop.

The fire was brought under control within minutes, however, one fireman was injured when he fell off a ladder 15 feet onto a pile of scrap metal. Brandt says the firefighter was knocked unconscious and transported to Missoula's St. Patrick Hospital where he was treated for a laceration and received a CAT-scan. The unnamed fireman is in stable condition, and will be kept overnight for observation.

Brandt says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He said fire crews were on scene throughout the afternoon mopping up hot spots.
