An extended trailer for Tim Burton’s highly anticipated adaptation Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is finally out, offering fans of the book series a glimpse at the director’s interpretation of the beloved story.

Penny Dreadful actress Eva Green plays the movie’s titular character, while Hugo actor Asa Butterfield takes on the role of Jake, the latest addition to the group of gifted children — despite initial protests from Jake that he isn’t special. The film also stars other big names like Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson.

The movie’s official synopsis on IMDB reads:

When Jake discovers clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children first gripped readers when it was released in 2011 as the first installment in a series of three books written by author Ransom Riggs. He was inspired by strange, "creepy" vintage photographs -- often depicting children -- that he'd collected from flea markets over the years. While Riggs initially intended the book to be a compilation of those photos, an editor eventually suggested to the author that he use them as a guide to write a narrative story instead.

The Tim Burton-directed movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children doesn't hit theaters until September 30, but you can check out the trailer above in the meantime.
