A recent story about millionaire Ryan LeVin bypassing jail time with the help of money has infuriated people in his home state of Florida and across the U.S., as well.

In February 2010, while racing his Porsche against a friend's BMW in Fort Lauderdale, he ran into and killed two British tourists and then fled the scene.

It wasn't the first time LeVin hit a pedestrian in his car. Last February he was still on probation for running into a police officer in 2006. After the second accident, he faced up to 45 years in prison.

Despite a history of poor driving, LeVin was only ordered to pay restitution fees to the victims' families along with two years of house arrest. According to the judge, extended prison time wasn't as important as monetarily compensating the families.

In the meantime, Illinois officials say they want to extradite LeVin back to the state for a parole violation.
