Hip-hop beef usually doesn't get settled too quickly. Clearly that's not the case with Nicki Minaj, who was able to squash her little rift with Taylor Swift after the latter apologized for coming at her for criticizing the MTV VMAs nominations. But Miley Cyrus may open up old wounds as she reignites the fire.

In an interview with The New York Times, Cyrus, who serves as the host of the VMAs on Sunday (Aug. 30), admitted that she wasn't exactly fully informed on the entire tiff, yet she still sounded off on it. "I saw that. I didn’t really get into it. I know there was some beef. I don’t really know. There’s a way to talk to people ...“ she said.

Then comes a slight jab at the rhymer. "What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love," she continued. "You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about.”

In July, Minaj voiced her disapproval of MTV not including "Feeling Myself" or "Anaconda" (which both broke records) in the nominations for Video of the Year.

"If I was a different 'kind' of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," tweeted Minaj. "When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination." Taylor Swift, who was nominated in several categories like Video of the Year, took offense but Minaj reassured the "Bad Blood" singer that it wasn't about her.

But the soon-to-be host of MTV's award show didn't see Minaj's initial statements as sincere. “If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement,” she said. “But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it.”

“You made it about you,” added Cyrus. “Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA.’”

Cyrus will be hosting the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (Aug. 30) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. She'll most likely introduce Nicki Minaj, who is set to be the award show opener, which could lead to a very awkward moment on live TV. Tune in on MTV at 9 p.m. to catch any shade.
