This is what is all about!  Revenge!!!!  Just kidding Maulers fans...  Well.. sort of...   The Helena Bighorns are coming to Missoula this Friday night and your Maulers are licking their chops for sweet revenge over the double overtime shoot out loss the Bighorns gave them to start the season.  This Friday night, the puck drops for the last time in November and won't happen again for 2 weeks, so you need to get to the rink and get your fill of Maulers hockey!  Speaking of getting your fill, there are families out there that can't afford to even get a taste of turkey this Thanksgiving, so we are asking any fan that can afford it, to bring a frozen turkey to the game so we can help families in Western Montana have a blessed holiday with all the trimmings! The Maulers van will be sitting right outside the door, so just throw the bird in, come into the rink and have a great time watching #1 Helena take on #2 Missoula in a rematch that has been long overdue!

The Maulers will travel to Helena on Saturday night to try to take over first place in the AWHL Standings.  The Maulers are just 3 points behind the Bighorns and could possibly be in first place on Sunday morning. You can always catch the Maulers on the road on AWHLTV. So, this Saturday night, after you watch the Griz beat the Cats, watch the Maulers take on the Horns... what an awesome day for sports in Missoula!

The current AWHL standings are as follows:
Helena        13-1-0   26 points
Missoula     11-2-1   23 points
Billings         9-4-1   15 points
Gillette         5-9-0    10  points
Bozeman     4-10-0     8  points
Grt Falls       0-14-0    0  points

This past weekend was a WILD and CRAZY scene!  Friday night, the Gillette Wild came to town to play a 2 game set vs the Maulers after beating the Bighorns and taking the Bulls to double OT.  The Maulers opened up the game in a frenzy of scoring, lighting the lamp 4 times in the first, then 3 times in the second and then finally 2 more times in the third period.  Matt Chamberlain scored 2, while Tim Schmidt, Blair Murphy (the AWHL defensive player of the week), Zach Paisley, CJ Morrison, Brett Matthews, Jimmy Morris and Oscar Bjorkander all got one past the Wild goaltender to give the Maulers a convincing 9-1 win.

Saturday night was nothing like Friday night.  The Wild got a great night's rest at the Wingate by Wyndham on Friday night and came to play!  The first period opened up great for the Maulers, with scoring by Jimmy Morris and Cory Shafer, but then the Wild goaltender caught on fire.  The Maulers outshot the Wild 18-4 in the first period and could only get 2 goals, while Gillette cut the lead in half with a power play goal at the 8:27 mark. Missoula opened up the third period with a Blair Murphy score, but Gillette came right back with a goal to end the second period with the Maulers up 3-2.  The Wild scored twice in the third period, putting the Maulers down 4-3 with 3:24 left in regulation.  Coach Baxter pulled goaltender McKinlee Baum with 1 minute to go to give the Maulers a 6-5 advantage and it paid off!  Dillon Bogart (the AWHL offensive player of the week) scored the game tying goal with just 36 seconds to go in the third period to put the game into overtime! The game went into a double overtime until the 2 AWHL players of the week (Bogart to Murphy) hooked up again to get the golden goal and the dramatic double overtime win!   If you want to watch the exciting action, you can click here and scroll to the 56:00 mark to see what the 1000+ fans got to watch live!   After the game was our first skate with the Maulers, and I must say I was very happy that the boys pulled it off, as it made for one heck of a party on the ice!   Thanks to all the fans that stayed around to watch the victory and skate with the players.

Well Maulers fans, that is it for this week's edition of the Missoula Maulers Junior A Hockey Team Newsletter!   We hope to see you at the rink this Friday night with a bird in hand and cowbell in the other to feed a family and make some noise as the Maulers try to take over first place in the AWHL standings!
