Man Assaults and Threatens Life of Woman who Cannot Walk

33 year-old Justin Flannery is in the Missoula County Jail on $50,000 bond after allegedly threatening the life of a woman by holding a knife to her throat when she tried to call police.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Brian Lowney is the prosecutor in the case and described what happened.

“There had been a 9-1-1 call to police by the victim in this case,” said Lowney. “They were unable to see anyone inside and nobody responded to the door, however, when they moved around the building they saw a pair of legs that they eventually determined belonged to the defendant, Mr. Flannery. They made entry into the house and Mr. Flannery fled the scene at that point and the victim said that Flannery, after she had made the 9-1-1 call, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.”
Lowney explained why no one responded at the residence when police arrived.

“One of the issues in the case is that the victim does not have the use of her legs, and she reported that when officers responded that the defendant was covering her mouth and had overpowered her so that she could not respond when officers arrived at the house.”

Flannery was charged with felony assault with a weapon, and misdemeanor partner of family member assault and tampering with a communications device.

Flannery is in the Missoula County Jail on $50,000 bond.
