The "Please Save Me" sign appeared on a massive willow tree along US 93 north of Lolo a few weeks ago.

The tree was directly in the path of the Lolo-to-Missoula bike path that is currently under construction.

After receiving public comment, the path is being altered to allow the tree to stay. Some estimate its age at 100 years.

Lisa Moisey, the Missoula County Parks and Trails Coordinator, told KLYQ Radio last week plans were being developed to avoid the tree. That re-route is underway, though construction is not expected at that section of the path until next year.

By the way, a temporary traffic light has been installed at the old Lolo weigh station to allow heavy equipment easier access to the path project.
