‘Leftovers’ Final Season Returning (Almost) Entire Cast for Short Order
HBO’s The Leftovers has almost a yearly tradition of shifting locales, but with a rumored move so drastic as Australia, many had to wonder if the third and final season would plausibly take everyone down under. Thankfully, it seems most all of The Leftovers’ Season 2 cast will participate in the final year (along with a happy promotion), though we might expect a shorter run than 10 episodes.
Per TVLine, near of the entire main cast will return for The Leftovers Season 3, including Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka and Janel Moloney, as well the Murphy family, played by Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo and Jasmin Savoy-Brown. That isn’t to say the Murphys will move to Australia, or how anyone could potentially end up on the oft-referenced continent, just that we’ll see them again.
And while fans will be sorry to hear that Ann Dowd no longer counts Patti Levin as a series regular (a huge thrust of Season 2 saw Kevin striving to rid himself of Patti, long after her death), there’s always the chance for a guest appearance. In better news, Scott Glenn will ascend to full series regular as Kevin Garvey Sr., understandable given the character’s cryptic presence in Seasons 1 and 2, as well his move to Australia.
Rumors also place the final episode count at eight, rather than the ten of prior seasons, but will The Leftovers satisfy by its final run? How in the world might everyone end up in Australia?
