For nearly 20 years, the University of Montana Law School, now the Alexander Blewett III Law School, has been introducing the public to the judicial system and basic areas of law through the Citizens Law School.

Senior partner at Garlington, Lohn and Robinson, Larry Riley said the idea was to sponsor a series of lectures where the public could get an inside look at how the law works in Missoula.

"We'll cover those in a six or seven week period of time with a couple of lawyers coming in each time," Riley said. "It's a very affordable cost, only $40 because we solicit a lot of money from local law firms who donate to defray the cost."

Topics will include the fundamentals of constitutional law on October 7, civil litigation on October 14, landlord-tenant law on October 21, criminal law on October 28, family law on November 4, estate, probate and business planning on November 11, and a night with judges on November 18.

"On the last night, we're going to have Federal District Judge Dana Christiansen, District Judge Karen Townsend, and Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech to talk about the law from the perspective of the judge," he said.

Anyone interested must call the law school at 243-6169 to register, The cost is $40, and the classes are every Wednesday night from October 7 through November 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the school of law, room 201.
