Lake County authorities are seeking the whereabouts of a convicted, non-compliant, tier level-three sex offender, Phillip Pierre, Jr. 51.

Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said on Tuesday, September 10, that pursuant to state law, tier three sex offenders demonstrate a high risk of repeat sexual offenses, are a threat to public safety, and that the sexual offender evaluator believes that the offender is a sexually violent predator.

"Mr. Pierre is a sex offender that is required under state law to register every 90 days," Yonkin said. "He is sent a registered letter that he is required to have notarized and sent back confirming that he is living at the address where we have him registered. In this particular case, he has failed to do so. We've been trying to track him down, but so far have been unsuccessful in doing so."

Yonkin said Pierre's conviction for sexual intercourse without consent occurred in 1991, but he is still required to register every 90 days.

"There haven't been other similar offenses since that time," Yonkin said. "I would still say, however, that considering his nature, I wouldn't encourage anyone to try to apprehend him and drag him into the sheriff's office. Just give us a call and let us know where he's been seen, and we'll take it from there."

Pierre is described as a Native American, 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He may or may not be wearing glasses. Pierre has a rose tattoo on the front of his chest. He was residing in Ronan, but has also lived in the Polson area.

The public is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff's Office at (406) 883-7301 with any information.
