The Mystery of Kalispell’s ‘Fairy Steps’ – Never the Same Number of Steps Going Up or Down

Nestled inside a deep patch of forest near the Stillwater river in Kalispell, MT sits a long staircase that has baffled locals for many generations. The "Fairy Steps" is a true Montana mystery where the number of steps is never the same going down, or going up.

I remember attempting this local rite of passage years ago, completely baffled by the outcome of my calculations. Granted, there are many, many steps. Enough to lose count along the way. Yet I was determined to remained attentive and still ended up with a different number no matter how many times I tried! The Fairy Steps truly are a puzzle that may never be solved...
