As he promised last week, Justin Timberlake fans received a treat on Sunday (Jan. 13) at midnight with the release of his first single, 'Suit & Tie,' off of his upcoming album, 'The 20/20 Experience.'

With a strong horn section, the song shows off the 31-year-old singer's signature smooth swagger but adds another twist by getting Jay-Z in on the track. Known for his collaborations with Timbaland, Snoop Dogg and Rihanna, it's not too surprising JT picked another heavy hitter for his comeback single. Now we wonder what his rumored work with Beyonce will sound like?

After more than six years out of the music game, the song highlights Timberlake's strengths while showing his growth, which he explains in an open letter he released in conjunction with the song.

The 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' creator explains that he has been in the studio since June 2012, and "quietly working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC."

"The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn't expect anything out of it," he writes. "I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I've had in my career... Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process.

What I came up with is something I couldn't be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some newfound muses that I've discovered along the way."

He also apologized to fans about the semi-cryptic viral video and for not being as upfront as other artists about their comebacks (perhaps like Destiny's Child?). One of the key pieces of information that fans are waiting for is an actual release date on this album. However as he mentions in the letter, Timberlake will debut more teasers in the coming weeks -- just for fun.
