A new article making the rounds on Facebook attempts to paint Missoula as the official mecca of rape and sexually violent crimes in all of America.

In a nutshell, the visiting reporter for Jezebel.com learned first-hand from locals to avoid places like Stockman's Bar as it's been labeled a "date-rape bar," and that people who live in our town feel that women "help it along" in regards to asking for a violent assault.

One particularity unnerving segment in the article claims:

"..girls in Missoula are the type who "make sh*t up for attention." Girls "cry rape" in Missoula, say the girls of Missoula, who are often quicker to blame "sluts" for getting themselves into sketchy situations than are guys. I'm told over and over again that, thanks to the allegations that have surfaced over the past few months, more and more girls are blaming their post-hookup shame on the guys they — in the minds of so many of the Missoulians I meet — happily and carelessly took home the night before."

The question on our mind is, do you, a local Missoulian, regardless of if you find the newly appointed title of "Rape Capital of America" offensive, agree with this label? Is this a nickname that we simply can no longer avoid? Take this poll to give us your anonymous opinion.
