Montana state is very unique in it's own right, yet there are just some qualities that we are simply much better at than most other states in America. And this one purr-ticular quality about Montana is sure to make any feline rub up against your leg.

According to a recent study by the website Thrillest, Montana is the one state that promotes longer lifespans for cats! The State of Pet Health has awarded Montana for it's preservation of feline health by saying:

The lifespan of a dog or cat can be impacted by various factors including genetics, whether or not a dog or cat is spayed or neutered, the amount of preventive veterinary care received and, of course, breed type and size. The geographic location where a pet lives may also impact his or her lifespan due to preventable diseases plaguing certain parts of the United States. Preventable diseases such as heartworm disease and Lyme disease are life-threatening and may play a role in a reduced lifespan in certain areas of the country such as the Northeast (Lyme disease) and the Southeast (heartworm disease). Montana state cat residents score an life-span average of 14.3 years.

14.3 years! That's practically junior high for most kids! Sure enough, cats in Montana are likely to live long enough to make even the oldest dog a feel even older. It's wonderful news for owners of cats in our state, a story that is truly the cats meow.
