If you are looking for a fun and easy treat you can make with your kids, then this is for you. Speaking as a mother of small children, I can attest to the the popularity and convenience of fruit snacks. My boys love them in their school lunches, as snacks after school, or just an anytime snack.

When my twins were younger, I couldn’t go anywhere without fruit snacks. They are fruity, little quiet-makers. The best thing about this recipe is that you can pick your child’s favorite flavors to make together. When they are toddlers, they would eat any flavor, but as they have gotten older, there are certain flavors they don’t like anymore.

Another great thing about making your own fruit snacks is that you can make them in the shape of your child’s favorite characters or animals. A quick trip to the craft store could make you your child’s hero. Craft stores carry molds of all shapes and sizes, so you are sure to find something that will work for you.

Homemade Fruit Snacks

3 ounces of you child’s favorite flavored gelatin

.50 ounces unflavored gelatin

1/3 cup water

Pour the water into a pot and then shake both types of gelatin into the water. Turn the burner on medium heat and stir mixture constantly until the gelatin has dissolved in the water. Now pour the mix into a mold and allow it to set. Once the gelatin has set, pop the fruit snacks out of the molds and eat.
