The man who led Missoula County Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase at speeds of over 120 miles per hour on Wednesday appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Friday afternoon.

Robert Brown, 36, a fugitive from Florida appeared via video from the Missoula County Jail. Deputy Missoula County Attorney Mac Bloom read off a litany of charges to Judge Marie Anderson, and asked for high bail.

"Your honor, in this case the State is asking for $150,000 bail," Bloom said. "We feel that the defendant is a serious danger to the public. The defendant was under investigation for stealing two cars in East Missoula, and when deputies arrived to arrest him on a warrant out of Florida, he took off and led deputies on a high speed chase of up to 120 miles per hour. Over the course of the chase, five vehicles were forced off the road because the defendant was driving in the wrong lane and swerving all over the road."

Bloom said Brown has a lengthy criminal history that stretches from 1998 to the present, primarily grand larceny, theft and fraud.

Judge Anderson set bail at $150,000 and remanded Brown back to the Missoula County Jail.
