The University of Montana Lady Griz basketball team will be raising money for Camp Eyabsut (say "YAWB-suit). By now many of you know the story of Lady Griz player Alyssa Smith (pictured with some camp members), who suffered severe burns from scalding hot water as a child. Alyssa knows first-hand the benefits of Camp Eyabsut, which reaches out to young burn victims. She has volunteered countless hours at the camp over the years and is spearheading various fundraisers at this Saturday's (Feb. 2nd) Lady Griz game. There will be a number of ways to financially assist a camp that helps so many and functions solely on the generosity of others. Bring cash or checks to the game. Firefighters will be there with boots in hand to collect your contibutions. Indulge in goodies from the Lady Griz bake sale (we understand props go to some of the players' parents for baking assists). Or watch the game in style in a new T-shirt. About 200 will be available with a stylish new Lady Griz/Eyabsut logo. Alyssa is to be commended for having a cause she is so passionate about and the way she is using her basketball talents as a way to give back. Thanks, Alyssa. We hope Saturday is a huge success on and off the court. DB
