Happy Birthday, Ne-Yo! The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is 38 years old today (October 18).

Since breaking big with In My Own Words way back in 2005, Ne-Yo has been a fixture on the singles and albums charts. Hits like "So Sick," "Closer," "Miss Independent" and "Time of Our Lives" have been among the biggest songs of the last 15 years; and albums like Year of the Gentleman and Because of You reached multiplatinum status. And of course, he's penned classics for other stars like Mario ("Let Me Love You"), Beyoncé ("Irreplaceable") and Rihanna ("Take A Bow.")

Ne-Yo hasn't dropped an official studio album since 2015s Non-Fiction, but the star has been enjoying a burst of renewed activity of late. Ne-Yo announced in summer 2017 that he is prepping a forthcoming sixth album called Good Man. And throughout 2017, he's dropped singles "More Than I Should"  "Earn Your Love," and "Another Love Song"—and he showed off his fancy footwork in his video for the latter.

Back in spring 2017, he invested in the Holberton School, an academy that offers courses like software engineering. Ne-Yo invested in a recent $2.3 million round of funding and now sits on the Board of Trustees. The singer is working to promote the school and try to bring more people from various backgrounds into tech.

And in a minor bit of gossip, his wife Crystal Smith recently got into a verbal spat with Kid Ink’s wife Asiah Collins while on a vacation trip to Australia, and apologized for the incident.
